BIO: Ava Hoekstra has been humming tunes and singing since before she could talk. She began vocal training at age 7, performed in her first professional musical theater production at age 10 and has been busy singing and acting ever since. Her primary genre is Broadway tunes but also Classical, Folk and Pop. She has also performed the national anthem at events including the Salt Lake Bee’s at Smith’s Ballpark and the Melissa Etheridge concert at the Ed Kenley Amphitheater in 2018.

Ava is currently cast as “Dorothy” (understudy to Lexi Walker) in Wizard of Oz at the Hale Centre Theatre (HCT) in Sandy, Utah, and is honored to be performing in 30+ shows in the role. Her past productions at HCT include My Son Pinocchio and The Heart of Robinhood. She recently portrayed “Small Alison” in the production of Fun Home at Salt Lake Acting Company. Ava has been in several productions at Pioneer Theater Company including Fiddler on the Roof, It Happened One Christmas, Oliver!, and The Will Rogers Follies.

Ava has been a part of the musical theater performance group “Moxie” with Utah COPA receiving training and participating in performance opportunities at Disneyland, Ft. Douglas Veteran’s Day Program and a Featured Soloist in their Moana Mashup Cover YouTube music video. She has participated in several singing competitions, and in 2017 was awarded 1st place and best musical theater piece at the Con Brio Music Festival.
Ava recently launched her YouTube channel and will be releasing two new professional music video covers in late 2018 early 2019.
